Grand Teton NP and Yellowstone NPTeton Winter Adventure, January 2007
Grand Teton and Yellowstone NPs, June 2009In the spring of 2009 I got to spend a week in Jackson Wy. Grand Teton NP is just north of the town of Jackson. And Yellowstone NP is just north of GTNP. Since the focus of this trip was landscape images and Yellowstone is a bit of a drive from Jackson I only spent parts of a couple of days in Yellowstone. On the second day, however, I had two wonderful wildlife encounters. The first was with a hunting coyote and the second was with a bull elk and his harem. I got to spend about 20 minutes with the coyote (and about 2 million mosquitoes) and spent over a hour with the elk. I had taken face shots of elk at a rehabilitation facility in Alaska but never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever have the opportunity to shot such shots in the wild. (Of course, the bull's rack was not all that impressive in the spring as it had just started growing back. As you'll see in the galleries below, most of the images are from GTNP. If you have looked at the images from the winter trip some locations, like the Mormon Barns, will be familiar. But there are images in the spring galleries from many locations, like Schawbacher Landing, that are not very accessible in the winter. In order to keep the number of images in each gallery to a reasonable number I've created 5 separate galleries for this. There is a landscape and a wildlife gallery of each (Grand Teton and Yellowstone) National Park. The fifth contains panoramas from these two neighboring parks. |
